EV chargers

In the local web app you manage the EV chargers in the installation: you follow the charging sessions and use charging rules to determine when and how charging takes place.

📋 Overview​

Every connected EV charger gets its own card in the local web app. From that card you see live what the charger is doing, review the charging history and set up the charging rules. Meanwhile, the Navigator continuously monitors your grid connection and throttles the charging power whenever needed.

Note

If you want to use charging rules with a price condition, the energy tariffs of the relevant location must be available. Make sure the correct energy tariffs have been entered in the Currentt App.

Insight into your charging sessions​

Every charger gets its own card in the local web app with live charging data and the battery level of the connected car. Go ahead and set the right color for your car 🧑‍🎨

The Navigator stores the last 250 charging sessions per charger, so you can see exactly when and how much was charged. That history is available in the local web app as well.

Charging rules​

You decide when and how charging takes place. Per charger you set up rules with three options:

  • Charge at a fixed power: Charge with the charging power you set.
  • Charge on solar surplus: Charge only with the power you generate yourself and would otherwise feed back into the grid.
  • Do not charge: Keep the charger off.

You can let each rule apply once at a specific moment, or repeat on the weekdays you choose. Optionally you add a price condition: the rule then only applies as long as the purchase price is above or below an amount you set.

Charging on solar surplus​

For charging on solar surplus you set a threshold yourself, per phase or across all phases together. Less sunshine? Then the Navigator automatically switches back from three phases to one phase, so charging continues instead of stalling.

Load balancing​

The Navigator continuously monitors your grid connection. If charging together with your other consumption threatens to exceed the maximum of your connection, the charging power is automatically throttled. This way you always stay within your connection capacity, without having to keep an eye on it yourself.

📝 Managing EV chargers​

Adding an EV charger​

  1. Connect and configure the EV charger according to the installation instructions for your brand and model.
  2. In the local web app, go to Dashboard → Installation and follow the installation wizard to connect the EV charger.
  3. Once connected, the EV charger appears with its own card in the local web app.
Adding manually

You can also add the EV charger manually via Dashboard → Components. See configuration via manual components.

Adding a charging rule​

  1. Open the card of the relevant EV charger.
  2. Add a new charging rule.
  3. Choose whether charging happens at a fixed power, on solar surplus, or that charging is disabled.
  4. Set whether the rule applies once at a specific moment, or repeats on the weekdays you choose.
  5. Optionally add a price condition and set the amount above or below which the rule applies.
  6. Save the charging rule.

Editing a charging rule​

Open the card of the relevant EV charger, select the charging rule and adjust the desired settings.
