Huawei battery

📋 Overview

Huawei batteries (such as the LUNA2000 series) are not connected directly to the Currentt Navigator. The battery is connected to the Huawei inverter and is controlled and read out via the inverter.

⚙️ How does it work?

The Huawei battery communicates internally with the inverter via a proprietary protocol. All battery data (such as state of charge, power, and temperature) is available through the Modbus registers of the inverter. By connecting the inverter to the Currentt Navigator, you automatically gain access to the battery data and the Currentt Navigator can control the battery.

🔌 Connection

Connect the inverter to the Currentt Navigator using one of the methods below. The available method depends on whether a Huawei WLAN-FE Smart Dongle is installed on the inverter.

Option 1: Modbus RTU (RS485)

A separate wired connection via an RS485 cable between the inverter and the Currentt Navigator. This is a direct physical connection and does not require any network infrastructure.

Note

Only possible when there is no Smart Dongle installed on the inverter.

Option 2: Modbus TCP (local network)

A connection via the local network. The inverter (via the Smart Dongle) and the Currentt Navigator must both be connected to the same network.

Note

Only possible when a Smart Dongle is installed on the inverter.

📊 Grid meter

When the battery is controlled by the Currentt Navigator, it is not necessary to install a separate grid meter (Huawei Smart Power Sensor / DTSU666-H). The Currentt Navigator has built-in energy metering and controls the battery directly based on its own measurement data.

The LUNA2000 batteries have a modular design. Each module has a capacity of 5 kWh and up to 3 modules can be stacked per battery (15 kWh). A maximum of 2 batteries can be connected per inverter (30 kWh total).

Note

The battery must always be connected via a compatible Huawei inverter. Direct connection of the battery to the Currentt Navigator is not possible.
