Neovolt via Modbus TCP

This guide describes step by step how to connect a Neovolt battery system to the Currentt Navigator via Modbus TCP over the local network (Ethernet).

🧰 Requirements

  • Currentt Navigator (connected to the local network)
  • Ethernet cable (RJ45, CAT5/Cat6)

1️⃣ Step 1: Install the Neovolt

  1. Install the Neovolt according to the supplied installation manual
  2. Ensure the system is powered on and functioning correctly

2️⃣ Step 2: Connect Ethernet cable

Communication panel on the Neovolt inverter

  1. Remove the cover from the communication panel on the bottom of the inverter (4 screws)
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable (RJ45) to the LAN port on the inverter
  3. Connect the other end to your network switch or router
  4. The inverter automatically obtains an IP address via DHCP

3️⃣ Step 3: Enable Modbus on the inverter

Modbus must be manually enabled via the LCD display on the inverter.

  1. Navigate on the display to Function
  2. Enter the installer password: 1111
  3. Go to ModBus
  4. Set Modbus enable to YES
  5. Confirm the setting

4️⃣ Step 4: Configure network settings

Check the network settings on the inverter:

  1. Navigate on the display to Function > Ethernet Settings
  2. Check the following settings:

IP address(automatically assigned via DHCP)
  1. Note the IP address assigned to the inverter

5️⃣ Step 5: Configuration in the Currentt Navigator

After connecting and configuring the inverter, the battery must be added in the Currentt Navigator.

  1. Click the settings icon (top right of the screen)
  2. Choose Setup Wizard
  3. Follow the on-screen steps

Manual configuration

  1. Click the settings icon (top right of the screen)
  2. Go to Components
  3. Click the + button in the Batteries section
  4. Select Neovolt
  5. Enter the connection details:
