Growatt inverter
📋 Overview
The Growatt inverter is connected to the Currentt Navigator to read production data and control the system. For hybrid inverters (SPH/SPA) with a connected battery, the battery is automatically included.
⚙️ How does it work?
The Currentt Navigator communicates with the Growatt inverter via the Modbus RTU protocol over an RS-485 connection. The Currentt Navigator reads production data, power levels and status information, and can control the inverter's power output.
For a Growatt hybrid inverter with a connected battery (such as the ARK or APX series), all battery data (SoC, charge/discharge power, status) is automatically read via the same connection. See also the Growatt Battery guide.
Make sure the Growatt inverter always has the latest firmware. Without the latest firmware, battery control may not work correctly. Contact Growatt or your installer to update the firmware.
🔌 Connection
Connect the inverter to the Currentt Navigator via one of the methods below.
Option 1: Modbus RTU (RS-485)
A wired connection via an RS-485 cable between the inverter and the Currentt Navigator. This is a direct physical connection and does not require network infrastructure.

Option 2: Modbus TCP (via ShineLink-X)
A connection via the local network using a Growatt ShineLink-X. The ShineLink-X consists of two components: a ShineRFStick-X (a dongle that plugs into the inverter's USB port) and a ShineLanBox (connected to the network via Ethernet). Communication between the ShineRFStick-X and the ShineLanBox is wireless via RF.
