Materials
Once you have discussed the requirements and surveyed the location, you know what needs to be done and which devices need to be connected.
Then go through the checklist below so you start the job with the right materials and knowledge.
Make sure this checklist has been completed and all materials are present before starting the installation.
🧰 Basic installation
1. Space for the Navigator Pro?
Check whether there is enough space (9 DIN-rail modules) in the fuse box to install the Navigator Pro.
- The Navigator Pro is mounted on a DIN-rail and takes up 9 modules. Reserve this space in the fuse box.
- If there is insufficient space, you need to expand the fuse box with an additional distribution board.
2. Connect to the network via cable or WiFi?
Determine how the Navigator will be connected to the internet. The recommended method is via a network cable.
Network cable (recommended)
- Make sure a network cable is available.
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for the network cable and the instructions for the network cable.
WiFi
- Make sure the customer's WiFi network name and WiFi password are known.
- During the installation, follow the instructions for the WiFi connection
⚡ P1 meter
3. Connect a single meter or a dual meter?
Determine whether a single meter (most cases) or a dual meter (PAP/SAP) is used.
Single meter
- Reserve 2 DIN-rail modules (single-phase) or 4 DIN-rail modules (three-phase) for the circuit breaker.
- The RJ12 cable to connect the P1 meter to the Navigator is included.
- Make sure the required circuit breaker is available (1P 6A is sufficient), for example GACIA PB8H-1C06 inst. 1p C6 10kA.
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for the power supply and the instructions for a single P1 meter.
Dual meter
- Reserve 6 DIN-rail modules for 2 circuit breakers (2x3 modules wide for 3-phase).
- One RJ12 cable to connect the primary P1 meter to the Navigator is included. Make sure an additional RJ12 cable is available to connect the secondary P1 meter. This can also be ordered from Currentt.
- Make sure the required circuit breakers are available (3P 6A is sufficient), for example GACIA PB8H-3C06 inst. 3p C6 10kA.
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for a dual meter and the instructions for a dual meter.
Dual meter - ATS
If the customer wants to be able to switch automatically between the primary (PAP) and secondary (SAP) meter, first follow the instructions for connecting a dual meter. In addition, follow the instructions below:
- Reserve 6 DIN-rail modules for 2 contactors (2x3 modules wide for 3-phase).
- Make sure the required contactors are available. We recommend oversizing the contactors due to the minimal price difference and combining NO (normally open) and NC (normally closed) contactors:
- During the installation, follow the instructions for ATS.
🔌 Devices
4. Devices supported?
Check whether the devices to be connected, such as inverter, battery, heat pump and meters, are supported by the Currentt Navigator.
- Check the devices to be connected against the list of supported devices.
- Determine which connection method each device supports and which one you are going to use.
5. Connect devices via RS-485 Modbus?
Determine whether devices need to be connected via RS-485 Modbus.
- Make sure the required twisted pair cables are available, for example Dynamic signal cable.
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for RS-485 Modbus and the device-specific instructions.
6. Connect devices using the SG-ready protocol?
Determine whether devices (such as heat pumps) need to be connected using the SG-ready protocol.
- Reserve 2 DIN-rail modules for the contactors (2x1 module wide).
- Make sure a 4-core cable (network cable or other data cable) is available to connect the device to the Currentt Navigator, for example Dynamic signal cable.
- Make sure 2 contactors are available for switching the SG-ready contacts:
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for contactors and the instructions for SG-ready.
7. Connect devices using contactors?
Determine whether devices that are not SG-ready need to be switched using contactors.
- Per device, reserve the required DIN-rail modules for the contactor(s).
- Make sure the required contactors (NO) are available, for example EMAT contactor 230/400V 63A 4 make and 0 break (85010010).
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for contactors.
🕓 Meters
8. Measure groups using energy meters?
Determine whether groups need to be measured using energy meters.
- Reserve the required DIN-rail modules for the desired energy meter(s).
- Make sure the required energy meters are available.
- During the installation, follow the instructions for energy meters.
9. Measure groups using CT clamps?
Determine whether groups need to be measured using CT clamps.
- Make sure the required CT clamps are available. If desired, Currentt can supply CT clamps for €12.95 each. These come with a longer cable than standard CT clamps.
- During the installation, follow the connection diagram for CT clamps and the instructions for CT clamps.
